Last month Nokia unveiled the core of the C series portfolio - the Nokia C5 handset. This Symbian OS smartphone is optimised for Social Networking and includes Ovi Maps Navigation as part of of range of mobile services.
With its focus being on social media networks, social networking features comes built in with direct access to Facebook and MySpace being both fast and easy. Facebook status updates are visable from the C5's phonebook. Nokia Messaging lets you connect to you instant messaging applications such as Google Talk and Windows Live Messenger. The high speed data connection allows for instantaneous uploading and sharing of photos and videos to various on-line communities. The homescreen is customizable and allows you to add your three favorite contacts to see what they are up to at glance.
Other features include a 3.2 megapixel built in camera as well as a secondary camera, a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, fast web browsing and easy internet access, and a range of applications through the Ovi Store.
The Nokia C5 comes with the lastest version of the OviMaps with walk and drive navigation options. Location sharing with Facebook can be enabled using OviMaps.
A microSD slot is included as part of the data storage component of the smartphone, with 50MB on-board memory. A 2GB storage card is included in the package. The phone is able to store sms records and call records which is standard on all Nokia phones.
In terms of hardware specifications the operation system installed is the Symbian OS version 9.3. Battery life is 12 hours with up to 630 hours standby time. The C5 also features a built-in stereo radio system with RDS and the handset itself is available in white and warm grey.
Global availability of the phone is predicted before July 2010.
