RIM has announced that it will be rolling out BlackBerry® 6 operating system for selected BlackBerry smartphones. The new operating system gives users a new redesigned user interface that has been optimized to work with both the touchscreen and track pad inputs. The new operating system offers better interactivity; better ease of use and it will debut on the new Blackberry Torch 9800 smartphone.
New interface
The new interface has been made to be clean, sleek and fluid yet remaining familiar to all BlackBerry users you can navigate the interface easily whether you are using a track pad or touchscreen. You can customize your Home Screen into 5 customizable views that allow you to better organize your applications. Another innovative feature is the new way you can search for anything in your blackberry using the Universal search function. You can search for any content be it on the handset, YouTube or on blackberry App world.
Faster and fuller web experience
Blackberry 6 OS integrates a new browser that renders websites and emails quickly and beautifully in order to enhance your browsing experience. The browser supports tabbed browsing and an intelligent auto-wrap text zoom feature that intelligently positions text in a column when you zoom.
Social Integration
The new Social Feeds application simplifies the management of social networking and RSS feeds and provides access to BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), Facebook, Google Talk, MySpace, IM, Windows Live and so much more. The Social Feeds application allows you to make multiple updates to these social networks from a central point integrating your social feeds with each other. For those who are more into SMS the BlackBerry allows you to view your SMS and MMS conversations in a threaded view.
Enhanced multimedia
The Media player has an involving user experience as there is album art that shows in the new video and music players. The new BlackBerry Desktop Software 6 integrates media sync for syncing files with your smartphone. There are also a range of camera modes that allow you to capture better images no matter what time of day it is. The podcasts application allows you to find and manage audio and video podcasts that you may be interested in.
BlackBerry 6 OS will be released with the new BlackBerry Torch 9800 Smartphone but will roll out later to other phones. The phones Blackberry plans to support are the BlackBerry Bold 9700, The Blackberry Bold 9650 and the Blackberry Pearl 3G.
