The Nokia X3 is part of the “X” series range of Nokia phones that has taken over from the
previously known Xpressmusic range. If you are looking for a compact and affordable music-oriented handset, then the X3 is the phone for you. The X3 is the smaller and less expensive version of the X6. Modern design elements of the X3 include a functional volume rocker on the side of the phone, slider and soft keypad.
The screen is a 2.2 inch display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels, which has almost become the standard when it comes to cell phone screen displays. The screen is also completely usable in direct sunlight which is a nice plus point.
The X3 comes with a 3.2 megapixel built in camera with enhanced fixed focus and LED flash as well as a handy camera shutter. It is great for taking low resolution photos for uploading to Facebook and Twitter and other social media platforms. While the colour representation is great, the photos are not really good enough to use to print out, even with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels.
As an entry level music phone, the Nokia X3 has dedicated music keys and quick access to all your favourite songs. Sound quality from the built-in speaker is quite loud and the dedicated volume controls on the side, which also double as zoom buttons, respond nicely.
The X3 also comes with a microSD expansion slot to allow you to expand your external memory for saving your music files.
For web applications and browsing, the handset comes preloaded with Opera Mini 4.2. This mobile web browser is much easier for navigating the web and load pages faster than the standard phone browser, which is why it comes highly recommended.
The Nokia X3 has been available in South Africa since its launch in December 2009 and is available in Red on Black, and Blue on Silver combinations.
